Cote de Beaune

As the Cote de Nuits ends the Cote de Beaune begins to complete the Cote D’or.One of the “Golden Slopes” that makes up the Cote D’or (the other being the Cote de Nuits), is the home of what most wine lovers consider to be the best white wines on earth! This 15 mile strip in the southern portion of the Cote D’or produces wines that are softer, more full-bodied and richer than those of the Cote de Nuits.

Named after the city of Beaune, the capital of Burgundy, this region has soil that is lighter in color than the reddish earth of the Cote de Nuits due to the concentration of limestone and the lack of iron. This combination favors the Chardonnay grape which is why the Cote de Beaune is known for its white burgundies.

The Prosper Maufoux wines from this region include the following: (click here to view a map)
