Loire
The Loire is the longest river in France on which Pouilly borders the right bank and Sancerre borders the left. The Sauvignon Blanc is the dominant grape and the wines are characteristically fresh, spicy, green and slighty smoky.
The Prosper Maufoux wines from this region include the following: (click here to view a map)
Pouilly Fume – Dry, delicate with a full bouquet and a slightly tangy, smoky taste, this wine is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
Sancerre – The ancient town of Sancerre is situated high on a rocky hill and looks over the vineyards below. The wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc, fermented in stainless steel and is well-balanced and full in the mouth. It is fresh and light with fruit aromas of lemon, pineapple and passion fruit.
