Maconnais
Situated south of the Cote Chalonnais region and bordering the Beaujolais, the Maconnais region is made up of 42 villages and has been producing wines since the 17th century. This is the home of the villages of Chardonnay, Pouilly and Fuisse, just to name a few of the more recognizable. Approximately 75% of the production of the area is Chardonnay of which 60% is Macon Villages wine which are easy-drinking, fresh and fruity with an almost creamy, apple-like character. The remaining 25% is made up of wines made from the Gamay and Pinot Noir grapes.

Macon Villages Domaine de Ruere - Light, lively and charming, especially when young, with fresh floral and fruity aromas. The taste has a hint of lemon followed by ripe, balanced fruit flavors which linger on the palate to create a refreshing finish.
Pouilly Fuisse – A wine of finesse and distinction made from 100% Chardonnay with hints of hazelnuts and toasted almonds. It is a generous wine full of flavor, a floral bouquet and rich, complex taste.
Saint Veran – This cru originates from the village of Saint Verand which is surrounded by Pouilly Fuisse most famous for its 100% Chardonnay wines. It is light, supple and fruity with charming aromas of peaches, pears and honeysuckle that harmonize with its buttery taste.
Vire Clesse – The Villages of Vire and Clesse are considered among the best quality producers of the 42 villages of the Maconnais. Starting with the 1998 vintage, these 2 communes combined their names to produce this new appellation which is 100% Chardonnay. It is full bodied, with apple and pear aromas and delicate flavors of honey, pear, toast and grapefruit.
