Mr. Fairchild’s interest in wine began while he was serving as a foreign correspondent in France between 1966 and 1968.
In 1971, he joined The House of Burgundy, Inc., a New York importing firm and today is the owner, President and Chief Executive Officer.
On July 16, 1987 in recognition of his efforts on behalf of French wine, Mr. Fairchild was made a Chevalier of the Ordre du Merite Agricole by the French Parliament.
In May of 1994 he purchased the Maison Prosper Maufoux, whose wines House of Burgundy had been importing since 1947, and created the Maison Des Grand Cru to market the Maufoux wines worldwide.
