*** Prosper Maufoux 2005 Beaujolais -Villages, $12.00
At first blush, a pairing of Beaujolais and Swiss cheese sounds not so special at all. But a great Beaujolais-Villages, such as this one and an aged Swiss cheese can make the match majestic.

*** Prosper Maufoux 2003 Puligny Montrachet Les Folatieres $90.00.
The nose is dominated by apples and pears, while the palate exhibits apples and melons. Perfectly balanced. Subtle with some underlying spice and a faint hint of cinnamon. A wonderful wine from a wonderful vintage.

*** Prosper Maufoux 2003 Volnay 1er Cru Les Angles, $57.00
Spicy and meaty with berry and leather notes both to the nose and on the palate. Riper and chunkier than expected but a delicious wine with a nice finish and good weight.

(Scale: 96-100: Superlative, 90-95: Exceptional, 85-89: Highly Recommended, 80-84: Recommended, Below 80: Not Recommended)

90 • Prosper Maufoux (France) 2003 1st Cru, Santenay "Gravières" Rouge. $43.29 Gold Medal - This medium-full Burgundy has ripe cherry and strawberry fruit, distinct red spice and an elegant finish with light tannins and tart acidity. Pair this with roast chicken, duck liver paté or yellow fin tuna.

87 • Prosper Maufoux (France) 2003 Chardonnay, Bourgogne Blanc. $27.99 Silver Medal - This white Burgundy has lemon and pear fruit, moderate oak and an earthy finish with tart acidity. Pair this with lemon chicken, baked sole or tuna salad.

85 • Prosper Maufoux (France) 2004 Pinot Noir, Bourgogne Rouge. $15.99 Silver Medal - This medium-bodied Burgundy has appealing cherry fruit along with aromas of roses and carnations with an earthy, tart finish. Pair this with coq au vin, duck breast or salmon.

89 • Prosper Maufoux 2003 Volnay Premier Cru Les Angles $57
Tart black cherry and earthy sub bois scents give this a cool and lasting rusticity. It's fleshy and full, the kind of wine you might drink in a farmhouse in Burgundy with rognons.

87 • Prosper Maufoux Muscat Beaumes-de-Venise $27
Sweetly fragrant aromas of tangerine, pear and jasmine acquire an intense, almond nuttiness on the finish. It's a bit too high in alcohol for desserts, but would pair well with cheese.
- Wine & Spirits Magazine, February 2007

88 • Châteauneuf-du-Pape $32
Savory aromas are more dominant than ripe cherry tones, picking up a note of gingerbread. Approachable now, its bold depth and herbal overtones suggest a match with roast lamb or beef.
